WINDHAGER LAUNCHES NEW DUOWIN AND MOBILE HEATING CONTROL APP AT ECOBUILD 2015

30 Jan 2015

Making its debut at this year’s Ecobuild in the South Hall on stand 2040 is Windhager’s new DuoWIN combination biomass boiler.

With hybrid technology, DuoWIN combines heating with wood and pellets in one unit.  This sophisticated biomass boiler system allows users to either use logs or wood pellets and its intelligent fuel switching detects when the wood gassifier is in burnout and switches to pellet operation, either automatically or at a desired time.

The DuoWIN system is based on two of Windhager’s proven biomass boilers, the compact log boiler LogWIN Klassik and the recently launched compact BioWIN 2 wood pellet boiler, and thus takes up only 4.19m² of space.

The new DuoWIN is available as either a comfort or energy optimised variant.  The PowerBoost function can meet short-term higher heat demands up to 56kW.  With the energy optimised version, the DuoWIN’s pellet operation is up to 25% more efficient than conventional combination boilers.  Available in four models from 33 kW – 56 kW output, the DuoWIN has a filling volume of 145 litres for 50cm split logs and 164 litres of wood pellets, the feed for which can be either manual or fully automatic.

Also being launched at Ecobuild is Windhager’s brand new app ‘myComfort’ a remote heating control mobile app for all biomass boilers in the Windhager range installed with MES Plus Controls.  myComfort allows users to quickly guide their individual heating system every day from any smart phone or tablet at home or when out and about.  For existing properties myComfort can be retro-fitted to all Windhager boilers with MES Plus control and simply needs a fixed LAN cable to their home’s router.  For quick and simple decisions the pre-programmed functions, Eco or Comfort mode, can be chosen automatically where bespoke heating is not required.  With the weekly overview of the myComfort app, it is easy to set up and organise the heating programme and operating modes can be changed, such as the single domestic hot water refill mode that instructs the heating cylinder to automatically re-fill.

Windhager’s BioWIN 2 will also feature prominently on the stand.  This new compact wood pellet boiler has enjoyed enormous success in the last nine months particularly since the advent of the domestic RHI scheme where users benefit from 12.2 pence per kWh RHI payments.  The BioWIN 2 has become respected for its compact size, high efficiency, clean burning and low maintenance requirements.

Other products on Windhager’s Ecobuild stand will include the BioWIN Excel designed for larger heating applications such as schools and commercial premises; the LogWIN Premium, an exceptionally economic method of supplying heating and hot water from split logs; FireWIN, an attractive wood pellet boiler for the living area with full automation for heating and hot water; and the company’s new MES (modular energy system) control solution, an intelligent systematic control solution that fully integrates with the company’s range of highly efficient, technically advanced biomass appliances for optimum production and distribution and heat.

At Ecobuild, Windhager will also be promoting its new scheme for installers – WIN, the Windhager Installer Network.  Installers undertaking training at Windhager under this scheme will benefit from being able to offer extended seven year warranties on all Windhager biomass boilers.
